Catching Up With Old Friends

Our friends Jaime and Brian and their two daughters Noelle and Cadence were in town last weekend visiting Brian's brother in Fairfax.  We made a family trip to a BBQ last Sunday and got to spend some time with them as they took a brief road trip from their home in Massachusetts.  I remember seeing Noelle when she was just born and had never met Cadence (both girls are similar ages to our boys).  I don't believe Jaime or Brian had seen Alex before.  It was a solid BBQ and we all had a good time even despite the random injuries during the event (Alex getting hit by Josh in a swing, Josh slipping and scuffing his elbow).

The highlight of the day for the Josh and Alex was playing with all the other kids (which I ended up supervising for over an hour) on the back porch using the giant bubble wand.  I've said it before and I'll say it again:  bubbles are kiddie crack.  They went non-stop nuts for the giant bubbles until the deck became too slippery to continue.  I took a brief video of the madness which features the two girls and my boys playing nicely together.  It was good to catch up with Jaime and Brian and their daughters and hopefully we won't go three years again before getting the families together.

I love all the grown up laughter in the background. I'm glad you had so much fun. I hope to take the kids for a roadtrip to DC sometime this summer and we can have just as much fun!
